Police In Miami Twp. Investigate Shooting

MIAMI TOWNSHIP, Ohio – The Miami Township Division of Police is investigating a shooting incident early Tuesday evening after the shooting victim walked into a local hospital.

Investigators said that the shooting victim is a man. He was able to drive himself to the hospital after he was shot.

Hospital officials called the attention of the law enforcement officials after the victim arrived at the Sycamore Hospital.

Sgt. Matt Nicley of the Miami Township Division of Police responded to the hospital at around 7:00 in the evening. The male victim was taken to surgery at around 8:30 p.m., according to the reports.

Other news media outlet reported that the victim was shot multiple times that’s why he had to be taken into surgery. Hospital officials say that he obtained gunshot wounds to his hand and to his arm.

Some of the officers were dispatched to the 2500 block of Steeplechase Drive. Others were also dispatched to the area of Ferndown and Springhaven drives in connection with the shooting incident.
Other news media outlet reported that as a result of the investigation, a juvenile and a woman was taken into custody on Ferndown Drive.

It was not clear whether they are suspects in the incident but reports say that the two individuals lied to the law enforcement officials which delayed the investigation.

Investigators were not able to get many details from the shooting victim because he was in and out of consciousness, according to the reports.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the incident is an attempted robbery.

Reports say that the victim and the would be robber were in an altercation prior to the shooting incident.
The name of the shooting victim is not immediately available. His most recent condition is not given.
The name of the woman was not given. It is not clear whether she and the juvenile will be charged.
