Child Stabbed During Domestic Dispute

LONDON, Ohio – A father from central Ohio was arrested and charged after he allegedly stabbed his child early Saturday morning during a domestic dispute.

Other news media outlet reported that stabbing started as a domestic violence. The woman resident of the home located in the 100 block of East High Street called for the officers from the London Division of Police after her former boyfriend showed up at her home.

Reports say that the woman told the officers that the suspect was mad at the woman because he was seeing another man. The dispute escalated and ended in the stabbing of the 19-month-old boy.

The woman, who is the boy’s mother, is identified as Brittany Cooper. She told the officer that her former boyfriend was trying to break her window and is kicking his back door open. He also said that he was throwing rocks at her window, according to the reports.

The woman’s boyfriend is identified as Jonathan Davis.  The victim was his son. The Madison County Sheriff’s Office said that the man threatened to kill the boy if the woman will not come to his home, according to the reports.

The 19-month-old child was at the home of the man when the dispute took place that’s why he was threatening to kill the boy.

Deputies from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office said that they responded to the area where the domestic violence was reported at around 4:00 early Saturday morning.

Deputies later searched for the suspect and were located in the back of Oak Hill Cemetery. Davis had his knife to the side of the boy’s stomach when the deputies found him.

He took off running when he saw the law enforcement officers. He had to be teased in order to be taken down, according to the reports.

The 19-month-old boy was transported to the Nationwide Children's Hospital. He was treated from a stab wound to the side of his stomach.

Davis was also injured during the incident and was transported to Madison County Hospital. He was later transferred to a hospital in Columbus. He was then taken to jail after he received treatment.
