Boy Arrested In Hate Crime Attack


CLEVELAND, Ohio – The law enforcement officials in Cleveland arrested a 13-year-old boy who is allegedly involved in a hate crime at a bar in the west side of Cleveland.
Cleveland Division of Policereported that the incident took place at the Cocktails Lounge on Detroit Avenue near West 93rd Street on Friday evening at around 8:00 p.m.

Investigators say that prior to the attack, there were dozens of juveniles who were outside the bar and were yelling hate messages. One report says that they were speaking negative things against the homosexuals.

Other news media outlet reported that the group of boys was near the patio when the victim was serving drinks to the customers. The boys threw stones at the victim and the customers whom the victim was serving.

The customers run after the group of boys who fled from the scene after throwing rocks at the bartender and the patrons of the business.

The victim called for the law enforcement officials after the boys returned and was armed with brooms and sticks. The victim said that they threatened him, according to the reports.

Officers from the Cleveland Division of Police responded to the scene and saw the boys running. They were able to catch one of the boys at Detroit Avenue and West 87th, according to the reports.
The other juveniles were able to escape and are still being sought by the law enforcement officials.

Cleveland Division of Police identified the victim as fifty-eight-year-old Patrick Scardino.
There were no details that were released in relation with the victim’s injuries.

Records also show that last August 31, there were also group of boys who attacked another bartender at the mentioned bar. The incident was caught by the surveillance camera.
The name of the boy who was arrested was not given.
