2 Arrest After Shootout in Middletown

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Lt. Scott Reeve of the Middletown Police Department said that two people were taken to hospital and two suspects were taken into custody after an early afternoon shooting today, according to the reports.
The incident took place at a home in the 700 block of 16th Avenue in Middletown. The incident started after an altercation ensued between one of the shooters and one of the victims. Weapons were produced after the altercation that led to the shootout.

The law enforcement officials responded to the scene at around 12:17 Friday afternoon and found two persons who were shot. Other news media outlet reported that one of the victims was an innocent bystander and the other person was the mother of one of the suspects who were arrested.

Reports indicated that the two suspects who were taken into custody were identified as the 22-year-old Shawn Palmore and the 26-year-old James Russell.
Shawn Palmore has been charged with felonious assault and James Russell has been charged with weapon under disability. Russell’s mother was one of the people who were shot, according to the reports.

Other news media outlet reported that Russell suffered minor injuries and was treated at theAtrium Medical Center in Middletown. He was released after receiving treatment. Students from the Rosa Parks Elementary School were not allowed to go out from the classrooms as part of the security measures and they were not allowed to go out after all are clear, according to the reports.

The names of the two persons who were taken to the hospitals were not given. Their injuries were not considered life threatening. It was not clear what the two men were arguing about that led to the shootout.

The two persons who were arrested were transported to the Middletown City Jail.
