Fatal Motorcycle Crash In Madison County

MADISON COUNTY, Ohio – The Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers are investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle in Madison County shortly after midnight.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was called to respond to S.R. 38 at U.S. 40 after a report of a motorcycle that crashed into a semi at around 12:17 early Sunday morning, according to the reports.
The driver of the motorcycle is identified as 43-year-old Stephen Savage. He was driving his Harley Davidson northbound on S.R. 38 when the accident took place.
Reports say that his motorcycle crashed into an International truck. He was thrown off from his vehicle because of the impact and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Other news media outlet reported that when the accident took place, he was not wearing a helmet. The helmet could have made a difference if he was wearing one.
The driver of the semi was identified by the Ohio State Highway Patrol as thirty-six-year-old Safet Okic. He was not injured in the accident. It is also indicated that he was wearing a seatbelt when the motorcycle crashed to his vehicle.
The law enforcement officers indicated in a report that they believe that alcohol played a factor in the accident.
Last September 2, a woman was also killed in a motorcycle accident in Columbus.
The accident took place in the intersection of McNaughten Road and Baskerville Drive at around 1:30 Monday afternoon, according to the reports.
The woman is identified as 43-year-old Catresa Lytle. She was driving a 2003 Yamaha motorcycle when the accident took place. Her motorcycle was struck by a sports utility vehicle. She was thrown off of her motorcycle and was transported to the Mount Carmel East Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The driver of the SUV is also a woman and was identified as 31-year-old Nicole Staley.
