East Side Apartment Of Columbus Shooting

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Reports say that the law enforcement officials responded to an east side apartment where the suspect in a shooting incident barricaded himself.

Columbus Division of Police reported that the officers were called to respond in the area of Allegheny Avenue and N. Gould Road at around 2:56 Wednesday afternoon following a report of shots that were fired.

Other news media outlet reported that the victim who was shot flagged down a bus driver who informed the law enforcement officials of the incident.

Reports also indicated that the victim was shot multiple times. He was transported to the Grant Medical Center. Hospital officials say that he is in a stable condition.

The officers from the Columbus Division of Police and SWAT officers tracked down the suspect who barricaded himself inside an apartment in the 900 block of Janet Circle.

The neighboring apartments where the suspect barricaded himself had to be evacuated as a precautionary measure. There are no other details that were released.

In another incident, a Columbus Police Sergeant was charged with OVI and having an open container. The Columbus Division of Police Sergeant is identified as 32-year-old Joshua Wagner. He is on desk duty officer at the department.

Other news media outlet reported that several people saw him in the intersection of East Second Avenue and Summit Street where he passed out. His foot was still on the brake when the green light was on. He was arrested at the scene.

Reports say that the officer was not on duty and was on his personal car when he was arrested. Records show that he is also a well-decorated officer. He is a recipient of a purple heart and a silver cross.
Joshua Wagner is scheduled for an arraignment on Friday.
